Hamblin Cadet

Tom Hamblin and his family would like to start a register for the now vintage cars that were made by the company S E Hamblin Ltd. They made bodies from the late 50s to mid 60s. (Sidney Hamblin was Tom's father).

They purchased a Cadet 18 months ago (TM 4087) and since taking it to a few shows, a lot of people have taken an interest in it. March 2004 Tom Hamblin and a friend Richard Helson purchased a Hamblin De Luxe (DEC 943D). Tom would like to start a register to see how many bodies/cars are still around and where in the universe they are! As far as we know there were about 5 De Luxes made and approx 600 cadet/super 2 bodies.

Brief history of S E Hamblin Ltd, Priestlands Lane, Sherborne, Dorset.
Sidney Hamblin designed a body made of aluminum to fit an Austin Seven chassis. It was launched as the Hamblin De Luxe in April 1957. Due to cost and time very few were made. In 1958 Sidney introduced the Cadet which was made of fibreglass, which successfully fitted both Austin Seven wheelbases and others. In 1960 they added integral rear wings and called it Mk2. There was also a Super Two and a Super Three.
